Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: Mojo Review

Mojo is the first album from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in eight years. If you’re looking for the same old Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers album you may want to look away. If you are looking for a great blues-rock album you will love Mojo.

While some tracks like “First Flash of Freedom” and “Running Man’s Bible” have that classic Tom Petty sound there are several tracks that are much different like the bluesy “Jefferson Jericho Blues.”

Guitarist Mike Campbell really stands out on this album. In past Heartbreaker albums he has been more contained, but in Mojo he lets it rip. The riffs are classic and the solos are terrific.

It has been a long wait for a new album, but Mojo delivers. The anticipation was high for this one and it turned out to be of the years best records.

The Review: 9/10

Can’t Miss Tracks

– Jefferson Jericho Blues
– First Flash of Freedom
– Running Man’s Bible
– The Trip To Pirate’s Cove
– No Reason to Cry
– I Should Have Known It
– Something Good Coming

The Big Hit

– I Should Have Known It: Great rocker with a Zeppelin style riff.

The Masterpiece

– Something Good Coming: Just a classic and the slide work is a great touch.
