The Black Keys announce “Peaches!”
The Black Keys have announced the release of their upcoming fourteenth studio album, Peaches!, due out this May 1. Alongside the announcement, the Akron-based duo has unveiled a new music video for their latest single, “You Got To Lose.”
Peaches! marks the band’s sixth studio release since 2019 and finds longtime collaborators Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney returning to a more stripped-down, organic approach. Auerbach has described the record as the group’s “most natural” effort since their 2002 debut, The Big Come Up.
The 10-song collection was recorded in a DIY-style setup, with all musicians playing together in the same room and minimal overdubs. In another nod to their early days, Peaches! is the first album the band has mixed entirely on their own since 2006’s Magic Potion.
According to the band, the album’s sound and song selection were influenced by Auerbach and Carney’s deep passion for record collecting. In recent years, that hobby has evolved into a series of “Record Hang” DJ-set dance parties, where the duo spins vintage 45s for packed dance floors in cities around the world. That energy and love for classic soul, blues, and R&B is reflected throughout the new release.
The album’s cover art is inspired by an iconic photograph from Memphis-born photographer William Eggleston, giving Peaches! a distinctive visual identity. The project also marks the return of Patrick’s brother, Michael Carney, who oversaw the album’s art direction.
The newly released video for “You Got To Lose” offers fans an early glimpse into the raw, groove-driven direction of the record, pairing gritty visuals with the band’s trademark blend of blues, garage rock, and soul influences.
