Joe Bonamassa announces new keyboard player
Joe Bonamassa has announced that Lachy Doley will join his touring band as the new keyboard player, replacing longtime collaborator and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Reese Wynans.
Bonamassa shared the news with fans on social media, writing:
“There has been much speculation about who will replace the legendary Reese Wynans after he retired from the road at the end of last year. Well please join me in welcoming the great Lachy Doley to our band. We are all excited to have him along on our musical adventures.”
Wynans played his final shows with Bonamassa in late 2025, bringing to a close a highly successful partnership that spanned more than a decade. His Hammond organ work and deep blues roots were a defining part of Bonamassa’s live sound during that period.
Doley also confirmed the news in a social media post, reflecting on both the opportunity and the responsibility of stepping into such a prominent role:
“Very Exciting News!! After playing with Joe Bonamassa in Ireland last year for some special Rory Gallagher shows, I’m now going to be joining his regular band doing my best to humbly try to fill the giant shoes left by the legendary, irreplaceable Reese Wynans. I absolutely can’t wait. Joe is such a masterful musician and I’m just so honored to have this opportunity. This has come at a good time for me as I’ve been getting somewhat burned out from the grind of touring my thing around guerrilla style for so long. Therefore I will be taking a pretty massive break from my shows for the time being. Maybe some in Australia around September and a handful overseas later in the year. But for now I want to focus on Joe’s gig and being with my family in-between time. Thank you so much everyone. All your support has led me to these very exciting times. Cheers, Lachy.”
Hailing from Australia, Doley has built an international following through his solo work and high-energy live performances.
