10 Must Hear Blues Rock Guitarists Under 30

Blues rock continues to evolve thanks to a new wave of gifted guitarists carrying the torch forward. These young players mix passion, precision, and authenticity, bridging the gap between the genre’s roots and its future. Here are 10 must hear blues rock guitarists under 30 that you need to know.

Christone “Kingfish” Ingram

A generational talent, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram has helped reenergize modern blues with his explosive playing and deeply soulful voice. Hailing from Clarksdale, Mississippi, Kingfish burst onto the scene with his 2019 self-titled debut and won a Grammy for his follow-up 662. Kingfish is no longer the future of blues and blues rock; he’s a modern-day leader in the genre. Kingfish will release his anticipated third studio album, Hard Road, in 2025.

Taj Farrant

Hailing from Australia and now based in the United States, Taj Farrant began wowing crowds before he was even a teenager. Now in his teens, Taj continues to impress with blistering guitar solos and an emotional maturity beyond his age. Influenced by icons like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gary Moore, his original music blends melodic phrasing and vocal soul with a modern edge. Taj is clearly one of the bright young stars pushing blues rock forward on the global stage.

Mathias Lattin

Mathias Lattin made his name as the winner of the 2023 International Blues Challenge and has since solidified himself as a player to watch. His playing is smooth, expressive, and grounded in tradition, while his songwriting brings in elements of soul and funk. Mathias exudes maturity and groove, and his ability to blend modern blues rock with old-school feel makes him one of the most promising young guitarists in the genre today. Lattin has recently been touring with Christone “Kingfish” Ingram.

Chase Walker

Chase Walker has been making noise on the blues rock circuit since his teens, delivering high-energy performances and gritty, soulful songs. His album, Not Quite Legal, was voted Blues Rock Review’s #2 album of 2016 when he was just a teenager. A native of California, his music channels the urgency of classic blues rock with a modern twist. With powerful vocals, commanding guitar work, and a stage presence beyond his years, Chase continues to prove he’s more than just a rising talent, he’s a young veteran with staying power.

Eddie 9V

Eddie 9V brings a raw, vintage spirit to modern blues rock. With a style steeped in Southern soul and greasy guitar tones, his recordings sound like they were cut straight to tape in the golden era of blues. His guitar playing is tasteful, gritty, and always in service of the song, making him one of the most compelling young voices in the genre. His fan base continues to grow. Eddie 9V is one of the top young stars in blues rock.

Quinn Sullivan

Mentored by Buddy Guy and performing on major stages from a young age, Quinn Sullivan has grown into a refined guitarist, songwriter, and vocalist. His recent work leans into heartfelt lyrics, polished production, and expressive solos that echo Clapton and Mayer. With years of experience and youth still on his side, Quinn bridges classic blues rock with modern songwriting in a way that connects across generations.

Ally Venable

Ally Venable has continued to build her fan base in recent years, and she’s already released several albums and toured internationally. Ally fuses Texas blues tradition with contemporary rock elements. She’s already collaborated with the likes of Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Kingfish, and more. Ally’s really coming into her own as a guitarist and as a singer/songwriter, and performed at the most recent Experience Hendrix festival.

D.K. Harrell

D.K. Harrell is breathing fresh life into blues with his smooth vocals, tight grooves, and tasteful guitar work. Hailing from Louisiana, he’s earned comparisons to B.B. King not only for his tone but also for his stage presence and charisma. In 2025, Harrell released his first album with Alligator Records, Talkin’ Heavy, which is generating a lot of buzz. D.K. has an ability to blend vintage blues soul with a modern sensibility. Harrell isn’t just a great player; he’s a natural entertainer helping lead the next generation.

Marcus King

While he plays with the soul of a seasoned veteran, Marcus King, 29, is already one of the most respected guitarists in modern blues rock. A true musical chameleon, King moves effortlessly between blues, soul, southern rock, country, and even psychedelic influences. His impressive guitar work is matched by a voice soaked in emotion, capable of delivering both tender ballads and fiery anthems. King’s ability to honor tradition while fearlessly blending genres makes him one of the most dynamic and influential young artists in music today.

Hannah Wicklund

Hannah Wicklund is a powerhouse performer whose live shows are nothing short of electric. Wicklund has played countless live shows since she was a teenager and was chosen to perform at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2023. She’s a strong singer/songwriter to boot, but few guitarists can match her prowess on the instrument.

Pete Francis

Pete Francis is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Blues Rock Review. Pete founded Blues Rock Review in 2010 because he felt there was a major void in how the blues rock genre was covered. Pete is the host of Blues Rock Weekly and a co-host on the Blues Rock Show.

I am very happy with this list, I wrote about 7 of these 10 in my book https://www.amazon.com/futures-guitar-gods-blues-rock-guitarists-ebook/dp/B0CQHTTG3B
And if you only look at those amazingly talented guitarists who are between the ages of 20 and 30, you will also find them in my book:
    Spencer Mackenzie
    Jake Kershaw
    Brandon Taz Niederauer
    Artur Menezes
    Connor Selby
    Jax Hollow
    Justin Saladino
    Shaw Davis
    Tyler Morris

But the others, who are a little older than 30, also play fantastically!:))

Uh, I don’t like any of them that much. Most of them are ‘place holders ‘ and are not moving the ball forward. Just my opinion…….,
