Sari Schorr announces “Running Wild”

New York vocalist Sari Schorr will release her new album, Running Wild, on October 9 in Europe and October 30 in the United States via Provogue / Artone Label Group.

Schorr has also released the album’s first single, “Mr. In The Middle,” along with an accompanying music video. She will support Running Wild with an extensive European tour beginning in September.

The new record follows Schorr’s collaboration with Robin Trower on his 2023 album, Joyful Sky, and marks her first solo studio album since 2018’s Never Say Never.

“I’ve reached a deeper understanding of who I am as an artist,” Schorr says. “I’m still searching and learning, but I trust my instincts more and follow each song to its emotional truth. These songs explore defiance, self-discovery, resilience and transformation. I hope they lift people above the weight of everyday life and remind them that brighter days are possible.”

“Mr. In The Middle” serves as the first preview of the new album and explores a relationship caught between attraction and commitment.

“‘Mr. In The Middle’ is about the intoxicating pull between two people who cannot quite let each other go. The chemistry is real, but while one is ready to commit, the other keeps moving between desire and distance – pulling closer, then pushing away before it becomes too real. The song captures that seductive, maddening tension and the moment when attraction is no longer enough. Eventually, someone has to choose.”

Schorr says the title Running Wild reflects the approach she took while making the record and her willingness to follow the music without placing restrictions on the creative process.

“I think the album title captures something essential in me,” she says. “I’m drawn to that place where vulnerability and strength exist side by side. Making Running Wild, I discovered that true freedom comes from letting go of judgement, trusting my instincts and following the music without fear.”

Born in New York City, Schorr initially pursued classical music before gravitating toward blues, soul, jazz and rock. Early in her career, she rehearsed and performed with musicians in the South Bronx, an experience she credits with helping shape her approach to combining different musical styles.

“It was a dangerous neighbourhood,” she recalls. “Hearing gunshots outside the rehearsal studio wasn’t unusual, but that was where the musicians in my band lived. They taught me so much about crossing musical boundaries and bringing different genres together. I didn’t realise then how important that would become when I began writing my own songs. It’s why I love weaving soul, blues and jazz into the heart of classic rock.”

Schorr launched her solo career with 2016’s A Force of Nature, produced by veteran British blues producer Mike Vernon. She followed with Never Say Never in 2018 and Live in Europe in 2020. In 2023, she teamed with Trower for Joyful Sky, providing vocals throughout the album.

For Running Wild, Schorr worked with co-producers Jamie Walker, who contributed guitar and bass, and drummer Luke Paget. Keyboardist Bennett Holland also joined the sessions.

“They’re incredible musicians, and the inspiration we felt when we entered the studio was electric,” Schorr says.

With the album now complete, Schorr considers Running Wild a major milestone in her career.

“Running Wild is the album I’ve dreamt of making all my life. It feels like a defining moment for me, and I don’t say that lightly. This record gave me more than I expected, and I hope it gives something meaningful back to the people who hear it.”
