Buddy Guy wins Grammy for “Best Traditional Blues Album”
Blues legend Buddy Guy added another milestone to his storied career, winning “Best Traditional Blues Album” at the Grammy Awards during the 2026 ceremony in Los Angeles. The win came for Ain’t Done With The Blues, as the 89-year-old icon continues to prove age is just a number.
The honor marks Guy’s ninth Grammy Award. Guy has earned 16 Grammy nominations over his career. Few artists in any genre have maintained this level of relevance and excellence across seven decades, and Guy’s latest win reinforces his role as one of the last living architects of modern blues.
The past year has been especially significant for Guy beyond the recording studio. He has continued to perform regularly, bringing traditional blues to audiences around the world with the same fire and authority that defined his earliest club performances. In addition, Guy made a high-profile appearance in the Oscar nominated film, Sinners, further expanding his cultural footprint and introducing his legacy to new audiences.
Guy’s impact at the 2026 Grammys extended beyond his album win. He also appeared on the Sinners soundtrack that captured two additional awards, taking home “Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media” and “Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media,” showing how deeply his music remains intertwined with film and popular culture.
The nominees for “Best Traditional Blues Album” included the following:
Ain’t Done With The Blues — Buddy Guy *Winner*
Room On The Porch — Taj Mahal & Keb’ Mo’
One Hour Mama: The Blues Of Victoria Spivey — Maria Muldaur
Look Out Highway — Charlie Musselwhite
Young Fashioned Ways — Kenny Wayne Shepherd & Bobby Rush

Well deserved – one of the best.
Damn fine blues instrumentalist as well as dynamic entertainer, having seen Buddy perform several times.
Although nominated, Buddy Guy should have also won for 2001’s superb release “Sweet Tea”.
