Buddy Guy to release new album in 2027
Buddy Guy is showing no signs of slowing down.
Fresh off a major stretch that included a performance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival and his 90th birthday celebration at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, the blues legend has revealed that a new studio album is coming in 2027.
Guy’s team announced the news on social media, confirming that the upcoming record is being produced by Steve Jordan and will feature an impressive group of musicians.
“A brand new Buddy Guy studio album is coming in 2027! Produced by Steve Jordan, the album features an incredible lineup of musicians: Willie Weeks, Isaiah Sharkey, Ivan Neville, special guest Kim Wilson, and more,” Guy’s team shared.
The announcement came on the same day as Buddy’s Got the Blues: A 90th Birthday Concert Celebration at Radio City Music Hall, where several of the musicians involved with the upcoming album were also scheduled to perform.
“We can’t wait for you to hear what they’ve been cookin’ up in the studio. Stay tuned,” Guy’s team added.
The forthcoming project will follow Guy’s 2025 studio album, Ain’t Done With the Blues, which arrived shortly before his 89th birthday and featured guests including Joe Walsh, Peter Frampton, Joe Bonamassa, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and The Blind Boys of Alabama.
The 2027 album continues an active period for Guy even after reaching his 90th birthday. In late September, he appeared at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in Austin, Texas, joining a lineup that included Clapton, Jimmie Vaughan, John Mayer, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr., Billy Gibbons and others.
Days later, the celebration shifted to New York for Guy’s 90th birthday concert at Radio City Music Hall on October 1. The all-star event brought together musicians from across the blues and rock worlds to honor one of the genre’s most influential figures
Additional details about the 2027 album, including its title, track listing and release date, have not yet been announced.
