When Rivers Meet release “Coming Up For Air” video
When Rivers Meet have released the video for their single “Coming Up For Air,” taken from their fourth studio album, Addicted To You.
Released in May 2025, Addicted To You became the duo’s most successful album to date. It debuted at No. 4 on the UK Official Albums Chart and also topped the Album Download Chart, Americana Chart, and Jazz & Blues Chart, along with additional chart placements.
The release followed 2023’s Aces Are High, which made When Rivers Meet the first independent rock and blues band to break into the UK Official Albums Chart Top 10. On Addicted To You, the group expands its blues rock foundation with broader textures and more atmospheric production, blending elements of Americana and folk.
“Coming Up For Air” is one of the most intimate tracks on the record, built around a delicate folk-leaning arrangement and subtle piano while exploring themes of mental preservation.
Aaron Bond said the song focuses on “living behind a mask” and the toll that takes over time: “‘Coming Up For Air’ is about living behind a mask which hides parts of yourself not just from others, but from your own reflection. Over time, that hiding breeds self-doubt and strips away your confidence until it becomes crippling and freezing. I learned how to show only what felt safe, while everything real stayed buried.”
Bonds adds, “The song captures that suffocating headspace, and the video visualises the fractured inner self, the battle going on underneath the surface. It’s about reaching a breaking point where you realise you can either stay hidden and let things carry on as they are, or choose to surface on your own terms. ‘Coming Up For Air’ is that moment of breaking free from the weight of years of self-doubt and lost confidence and knowing you can’t live that way anymore. You have to change.”
When Rivers Meet wrapped up 2025 with a UK headline tour supporting Addicted To You. The band is now back in the studio working on a new album, with more 2026 live dates expected to be announced soon.
