Robert Randolph hints at return of Crossroads Guitar Festival
Fans may have another Crossroads Guitar Festival on the horizon. During a recent episode of the Blues Rock Show, Blues Rock Review Editor-in-Chief Pete Francis asked Robert Randolph whether he had heard any indications that the legendary guitar gathering could return.
Randolph, a longtime Crossroads veteran, said he has heard early talk that another festival may be in the works. While emphasizing that nothing is confirmed, he suggested that an announcement could come as early as 2026, with the event potentially taking place in 2027. According to Randolph, conversations have been happening behind the scenes, fueling optimism that the festival will return.
“I did hear some inklings that there may be one soon,” Randolph said. “Hold on to your britches because there may be an announcement, maybe I think early 27 or something like that, or late 26. I’m not sure, but I know they’ve been talking about it, so I think it’s going to happen.”
Randolph, who is currently up for “Best Contemporary Blues Album” at the 2026 Grammy Awards, has been closely associated with the Crossroads Guitar Festival over the years, delivering multiple standout performances that blend blues, rock, gospel, and funk. His appearances have helped define the festival’s reputation for showcasing genre-crossing virtuosity alongside traditional blues-rooted guitar playing.
Founded by Eric Clapton, the Crossroads Guitar Festival has historically been staged as a benefit event while bringing together an elite lineup of guitarists from across the blues, rock, and roots spectrum. The most recent edition took place in Los Angeles in 2023, marking the festival’s first return since 2019 and drawing widespread acclaim.
While no official announcement has been made, Randolph’s comments offer the strongest hint yet that Crossroads may not be finished. If the festival does return, it would once again stand as one of the most anticipated live events in the guitar world.
