Gov’t Mule announces co-headline tour with Joe Bonamassa

Gov’t Mule has outlined its first round of 2026 touring, beginning with a spring headline run and followed by a co-headlining summer tour with Joe Bonamassa. The shows come after the band’s annual New Year’s Run, which wraps up a year celebrating the 30th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.

The quartet will launch its spring schedule on March 27 in Denver at the Mission Ballroom for a special “Mile High Mule” performance. Additional dates include stops in Indiana, South Carolina, Florida, and more. From July 29 through August 16, Gov’t Mule will team with longtime friend and blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa for eight co-headlining dates across the United States.

“Joe Bonamassa and I go back a long way,” Warren Haynes said. “We’ve played together many times, but this is the first time we’ve ever actually toured together. Really looking forward to it!”

Gov’t Mule closes out 2025 with its annual three night New Year’s Run. The stretch begins December 28 in Schenectady before returning to New York City’s Beacon Theatre on December 30 and 31. This year marks the band’s 20th New Year’s celebration at the Beacon and their 50th performance at the venue. The New Year’s Eve concert will honor the music of 1971, with material from landmark albums including IV by Led Zeppelin, Sticky Fingers by the Rolling Stones, Who’s Next by The Who, Imagine by John Lennon, Live at the Fillmore East by the Allman Brothers Band, LA Woman by The Doors, Meddle by Pink Floyd, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys by Traffic, Every Picture Tells a Story by Rod Stewart, Cry of Love by Jimi Hendrix, and more.

Haynes will also perform using three historic guitars from the era: Jerry Garcia’s Travis Bean TB500 #11, Dickey Betts’ Gibson Les Paul Gold Top Dark Back, and Mike Bloomfield’s 1963 Fender Telecaster. The December 31 show will feature special guests YOLA, Jackie Greene, and The Chronic Horns.

Gov’t Mule features Warren Haynes (guitar, vocals), Matt Abts (drums), Danny Louis (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals), and Kevin Scott (bass). The band released its 12th album Peace…Like A River in 2023 on Fantasy Records. The record drew strong critical praise and included guest contributions from Ivan Neville, Ruthie Foster, Billy F Gibbons, Billy Bob Thornton, and Celisse.

Since the album’s release, Haynes has issued two solo projects: Million Voices Whisper in 2024 and The Whisper Sessions later that year. Both albums were produced by Haynes and include appearances from Derek Trucks.

Haynes is also preparing for his 33rd annual Christmas Jam, taking place December 13 in Asheville, North Carolina. This year’s event will be livestreamed and includes performances by Stone Temple Pilots, Warren Haynes and Friends, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, and others.

A newly remixed and remastered edition of Haynes’ 1993 debut solo album Tales of Ordinary Madness arrives January 30 via Megaforce Records. After the release, he will embark on an 11 date solo tour in February featuring stripped down sets highlighting material from across his catalog. Additional Warren Haynes Band dates follow in March.
