Danny Bryant documents road to sobriety with new album

British blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Danny Bryant will release his new album Nothing Left Behind on February 6, 2026, via Jazzhaus Records. The album opens what Bryant calls the most personal chapter of his career, reflecting both a fresh start and a natural continuation of more than two decades on the European blues-rock scene.

“The album is about my rehabilitation and the changes I’ve made in my life,” says Bryant. The guitarist speaks candidly about years shaped by alcohol and restlessness, though he emphasizes the record’s uplifting perspective. “It’s quite a positive, motivating record — that was important to us,” he says. “The songs reflect my new perspective.”

While deeply personal, Bryant sees the album as a progression rather than a stylistic shift. “This isn’t a departure from what I’ve done before,” he explains. “It’s an evolution. The band’s sound has developed, and so has the songwriting. There are a few surprises people won’t have heard from me previously — new facets that have grown naturally from what I’ve always done, without losing sight of it. It’s a step forward, a conscious shift that remains grounded in my roots.”

The new album expands Bryant’s trademark sound with broader arrangements and a heightened sense of scale. Bryant credits the cohesion of his five-piece band for shaping the direction. “We wanted to make an album we could perform live,” he says. “With five of us on stage, we can reproduce the full sonic picture we created in the studio.”

According to Bryant, the project was built on trust and shared vision. “Everyone left their own mark — you can hear that. It’s not my album, it’s ours. Each member brings different musical backgrounds that filter naturally into the songs.” While Bryant handled pre-production, guitarist Marc Raner served as producer during the final sessions, helping refine the band’s approach. Engineer Martin Meinschäfer recorded and mixed the album. “I was in a vulnerable place,” Bryant says. “For years, I masked a lot with alcohol. Now that I’m sober, I’ve had to rediscover myself — and Marc helped guide that process musically. We didn’t want to make a standard blues-rock record. It was about songs we believed in, regardless of genre.”

Nothing Left Behind blends powerful blues-rock moments with intimate reflections, including “Swagger,” inspired by the riff-driven energy of ZZ Top and AC/DC, and “Three Times As Hard” and “Lover Like You.” One of the album’s most striking tracks is “Enemy Inside,” where Bryant confronts his past. “The song is very personal,” he says. “It’s about my drinking and everything I went through.”

Another key moment is “Redemption,” which carries a Led Zeppelin influence and originated from Raner’s music. “At first, I didn’t know where the song would lead. Now it’s one of my favourites. It was a new approach for me, and that’s exactly what appealed.”

The album also features a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “Nothing Man,” a lesser-known track that Bryant reinterprets with intimacy and restraint. “We’d never cover something as iconic as ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ But with ‘Nothing Man’, I felt we could bring something genuinely our own to it.”

Throughout the record, Bryant and his band maintain a tight, expressive connection. “There were moments when I lost confidence,” Bryant admits, “and the others carried me.”

For Bryant, Nothing Left Behind represents a turning point. “I hope the album reaches new listeners and still connects with those who’ve followed me for years,” he says. “We put our hearts into it — and I hope that comes across.”
