Warren Haynes to release new version of classic album
Warren Haynes will release a newly re-mixed and re-mastered edition of his debut solo album Tales of Ordinary Madness on January 30 via Megaforce Records. The updated 12-track version includes one bonus song not featured on the original release. The album was produced by Chuck Leavell and co-produced by Haynes, re-mixed by Jim Scott at Plyrz Studios, and re-mastered by Greg Calbi and Steve Fallone at Sterling Sound. The first single from the 2026 edition, the fiery opener “Fire In the Kitchen,” is available now.
Originally released in March 1993, Tales of Ordinary Madness marked Haynes’ introduction as a solo artist and showcased a mix of rock, blues, and soul. At the time, Rolling Stone praised the debut as “a powerful solo debut” and highlighted Haynes’ expressive songwriting and blend of ballads and rockers. AllMusic noted the album’s focus on songwriting and vocal performance, calling it a refreshing change from his work with the Allman Brothers Band, where he was a full-time member. The acclaim has continued over the decades, with Haynes now widely recognized as one of the premier rock guitarists of the era.
Haynes will support the reissue with a rare solo tour in February. The intimate run will feature two-set performances built around material from across his catalog, including songs from Gov’t Mule, his solo work, and the Allman Brothers Band. The tour runs from February 12 through February 26 and includes two nights with early and late shows at the new Blue Note Los Angeles. After the solo dates, the Winter of Warren 2026 Tour continues from March 1 through March 7 with a short run of Warren Haynes Band headline shows.
The new edition arrives as Haynes continues a busy period. He recently released The Whisper Sessions, a stripped-down companion to his 2024 solo album Million Voices Whisper, both issued through Fantasy Records. The albums feature guest performances from Derek Trucks and were produced by Haynes. Million Voices Whisper has been praised as one of Haynes’ strongest releases, while The Whisper Sessions offers an intimate look at his vocals, guitar work, and songwriting.
Haynes will return to Asheville, North Carolina on December 13 for the 33rd annual Christmas Jam, featuring Warren Haynes and Friends, Stone Temple Pilots, MJ Lenderman and The Wind, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, and a special tribute to Phil Lesh. The event continues to benefit Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity and BeLoved Asheville.
To close out the year, Gov’t Mule will reconvene for their traditional New Year’s Run. The three-night stand begins December 28 in Schenectady before returning to New York City’s Beacon Theatre on December 30 and 31. The New Year’s Eve show will celebrate music from 1971.
