Premiere: Derrick Procell – “Skin in the Game”

In a Blues Rock Review premiere, watch the music video for Derrick Procell’s “Skin in the Game.” The track is from Procell’s Catfood Records album debut, Hello Mojo!, produced by Zac Harmon.

“Like most of the songs that I’ve written in the last 10 years, ‘Skin in the Game’ started out as lyrics by Terry Abrahamson,” says Derrick Procell. “I was immediately taken by the vivid imagery of the story…an all too familiar relationship story. We’ve all been there before…the guy who’s wanting more from his lady than just a brief or casual thing. I saw myself as the singer who is asking her to “get in the game.” And the hook/title of the song is a well-known phrase that everyone is familiar with… meaning ‘it ain’t worth nothin’ without something at stake.’ And Terry’s use of gambling language and imagery only adds to the mystique of the song.”

Procell adds, “I tried to match the vibe of the lyrics musically with a deep minor keyed shuffle groove and it took off from there. I’m excited for everyone to see how well the video matches up with the song.”

I totally get where you’re coming from! When I was designing my pergola area, I wanted it to blend well with the rest of the garden but also stand out a bit. One thing I learned is that choosing the right material for your pergola screens can really tie everything together. For example, if you have wooden furniture, go for a fabric screen that complements that—something with earthy tones or even natural fabrics like linen. You could also play with the contrast between modern metal frames and soft, neutral fabric screens.
Speaking of which, if you’re still in the planning stage, you might want to check out the King Pergola Gazebo Electric 3x6m (https://cosydeals.com.au/products/queen-free-standing-pergola-4x6m)
