Gary Clark Jr. Takes Summerfest by Storm

The anticipation was high for Gary Clark Jr. as he played Summerfest. Clark has been playing most of the major music festivals this summer, but this time he was performing as a headliner at the world’s largest music festival.

The set began with a raucous rendition of “When My Train Pulls In.” The full band treatment really does the song wonders as the crowd ate up Clark’s scorching guitar playing.

One of the question’s coming into the show was what the set list would consist of as his official catalog only consists of the four track EP, The Bright Lights. The answer was extended jams sprinkled in with a few covers including “Catfish Blues.” Clark’s jams had the crowd in awe and on their feet moving to the music.

As the set continued it seemed more and more people filled in as the electric sound of Clark’s playing drew in drifters from the festival. After nearly every song chants of “Gary” erupted from the jazzed up crowd consisting of fans young and old. One thing is for sure, everyone in attendance knew Gary Clark Jr.’s name by the end of the night.
