Shotgun House: Beautiful Obsession EP Review

Shotgun House break forth with an unbridled ferocity on their brand-new Beautiful Obsession EP. The first track “Redemption Road” is a huge opener to a varied record, and explodes out of the starting gate with such indelible energy that it seems impossible for another four songs to measure up.

But measure up they do. The title track firmly establishes that this extended play is based around a rock-solid single, and the band doesn’t stop there. “We Are Vampire” is a bit of a mid-album break, giving the listener a chance to breathe a bit before plunging back into a passionate frenzy on “King of Love.” The final track “When” lets the listener down gently, rounding out the record with a smooth but strong finish.

On their debut effort, Shotgun House have concocted quite the winning strategy in their combination of strong songwriting and perfected performance. They’ve proven themselves a force to be reckoned with in the blues rock scene, and a powerhouse of fresh performing ability. Go ahead, let this EP be your next beautiful obsession.
