The Cold Stares unleash first single from new album, “Texas”

Blues rockers The Cold Stares have released “Nowhere To Go,” the first single from their upcoming studio album Texas, due out May 1, 2026.

Frontman Chris Tapp shared insight into the album’s creation in a post on the band’s social media, explaining that the project was built around a strong sense of place. “Starting the process for the next album, I really wanted to write the songs around a location that meant a lot to me,” Tapp wrote. “With our influences in mind, the big open skies, landscapes and freedom that Texas represents, I wrote ten songs and we cut what would be Texas over a couple days.”

“Nowhere To Go” serves as the first glimpse into the album’s direction. According to Tapp, the song “gives some indication of where this album is headed,” pointing toward a record shaped by geography, atmosphere, and the band’s roots-heavy blues rock sound.

The band also confirmed that pre-save options for Texas are now live on Spotify. Limited edition vinyl and CDs, along with a new line of Texas-themed merchandise, will be available through The Cold Stares’ website.

In support of the album, The Cold Stares will be touring throughout the spring and summer. A European tour is scheduled to begin in April, with additional dates to be announced.
