Wille and the Bandits unveil “Wheal Jane” video

Cornish blues rock outfit Wille and the Bandits have released a new single titled “Wheal Jane,” a dark and atmospheric track inspired by life inside Cornwall’s historic tin mines. The song is accompanied by a music video filmed underground inside a mine shaft, reinforcing the stark setting that shaped the track.

“Wheal Jane” is written from the perspective of a miner working deep within the Wheal Jane tin mine, a site long associated with dangerous and unforgiving conditions. The band translates that environment into a heavy blues rock sound built on tension, distortion, and a slow-burning sense of unease. Shadowed vocals and weighty riffs mirror the isolation and pressure experienced far below the surface.

Frontman Wille Edwards said the song was rooted in real experiences tied to Cornwall’s industrial history. “We wanted to show what it felt like to be down there, the pressure, the darkness, the sense of being cut off from the world above. The story is rooted in real lives and real danger.”

At its height, Cornwall’s mining industry employed more than 30,000 people, roughly a quarter of the region’s population. Men, women, and children as young as twelve worked long shifts underground, often for twelve hours a day, six days a week. That labor played a major role in shaping Cornwall’s cultural and industrial identity.

The accompanying video for “Wheal Jane” was filmed inside a mine shaft to reflect the physical reality of the setting. The visuals focus on the scale, silence, and scars of the underground environment that inspired the song.

“Wheal Jane” is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album Salt Roots, due out February 27, 2026. It follows the release of the debut single “Trouble Round the Bend” and signals a heavier, more cinematic direction for the band’s songwriting.

Wille and the Bandits will support the album with a UK tour in spring 2026.
