Robin Trower reveals live rendition of classic song
British blues rock icon Robin Trower has released a new live recording of “Too Rolling Stoned,” the latest preview from his upcoming album One Moment In Time: Live In The USA, due out January 30 via Artone/Provogue.
The live album features a 14-song setlist that spans Trower’s career, balancing longtime fan favorites with more recent material. Four songs are drawn from his 1974 breakthrough album Bridge Of Sighs, including “Too Rolling Stoned” and a previously released live version of “Day of the Eagle.” Speaking about the continued presence of those songs in his set, Trower said, “Those songs have to be in there, because they’re the audience’s favorites. That album is still a very powerful piece of music.”
The performances were recorded during Trower’s 2025 U.S. tour, which followed the release of his most recent studio album Come And Find Me. The guitarist played a 25-date run across the country, nearly six decades after first touring the United States with Procol Harum in the late 1960s. Reflecting on those early experiences, Trower noted, “I first came here with Procol Harum in the late-Sixties. Back then, it was a different world.”
Tracks on One Moment In Time: Live In The USA were captured at the Music Box at the Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 14 and at the Tupelo Music Hall in Derry, New Hampshire on June 24. The album showcases Trower’s signature Stratocaster tone, powered by Marshall amplifiers and his familiar pedal setup, including prominent wah work on “The Razor’s Edge.”
The live recordings also highlight the chemistry of Trower’s long-running power trio, featuring Richard Watts on bass and vocals and Chris Taggart on drums. Trower said the trio format gives him greater flexibility onstage. “I prefer this format because I have more freedom,” he explained. “In a three-piece, everybody is trying to make up for the missing instrument. We’ve got Richard Watts on bass and vocals, a wonderful voice, great musician. Then there’s Chris Taggart on drums, another fantastic musician. I’m very fortunate to play with guys of this calibre.”
Describing the intent behind the live album, Trower emphasized the emotional connection he aims to create with listeners. “At the very least, you want the audience to be feeling entertained by the end of the show,” he said. “But I’d really like them to walk out feeling elated. I want them to get something emotionally out of this as well.”
One Moment In Time: Live In The USA will be released January 30.
