Laurence Jones unveils “Get Back Up”
Laurence Jones has released “Get Back Up,” the third single from his upcoming acoustic album On My Own, arriving January 23, 2026. The track is accompanied by a new lyric video.
“Get Back Up” offers another preview of what Jones describes as his most personal project yet. On My Own is his first fully solo acoustic record and reflects both a return to his earliest influences and the ongoing realities of living with Crohn’s Disease. Jones recently spoke with Blues Rock Review about his battle with Crohn’s Disease.
Jones says the new song was born during a difficult point in his life. “Get back up came to me in a time of need,” he shares. “I needed something to literally pick me back up. I kept moving one step forwards and two steps back and this is what this song is all about. It’s about determination, grit and the fight in you to get back up, if that’s picking yourself up off the floor when you are ill or mentally saying to yourself you got this. I’ve felt that mindset helps as part of my healing journey.”
He adds that the track’s rhythmic feel was intentional. “I wanted the music to have that swagger and backbeat you can feel almost like a pulse. This was one of my favourite songs to record as I love the A cappella vocals at the end of the song. It was something I wanted to do for a long time, and this song gave me the confidence to do just that.”
Jones also dedicated a moment in the video to his late grandfather, whom he honored by naming his record label Ron Records. “At the end of the video, there’s a photo of my grandad and myself when I was a kid, and him first showing me how to play dominoes around the kitchen table.”
A classically trained guitarist who earned a Grade 8 Distinction at 18, Jones blends his early musical foundations with the blues style that established him as one of the leading young artists on the UK scene. Despite major health challenges, he has accumulated multiple British Blues Awards, sold more than 50,000 albums worldwide, and reached number one on the Official UK Jazz & Blues Chart.
Jones will support On My Own with an extensive Solo Tour in 2026, beginning January 23 in London. Singer-songwriter Amy Eftekhari, Jones’ partner and the creator of the EP All the Words, will open the shows.
