Joanne Shaw Taylor releases “Black & Gold Deluxe Edition” with new acoustic renditions

British blues-rock powerhouse Joanne Shaw Taylor celebrates a landmark year in her career with the release of Black & Gold Deluxe Edition, out via Journeyman Records. The expanded version of her acclaimed 2025 album features three new acoustic renditions of fan favorites – “Hold Of My Heart,” “Grayer Shade Of Blue,” and the newly released “Black & Gold (Acoustic),” a stripped-down, soul-stirring reimagining of her blues-gospel take on Sam Sparro’s iconic pop hit.

“Black & Gold” was already a standout moment on the original album, praised for its emotional depth and musical transformation. The acoustic version peels away the layers, spotlighting Joanne’s expressive voice and delicate guitar work. With lyrics like “If you’re not really here, then I don’t wanna be either,” the track becomes a raw meditation on presence, purpose, and cosmic longing.

“I always loved the desperation of the lyrics and thought it could make a great Blues/Gospel song if performed differently,” Joanne previously shared. “Stripping it back even further, this version really lets that emotion come through.”

The release of Black & Gold (Deluxe Edition) follows a string of acoustic singles that have given fans a new lens through which to hear some of Joanne’s most personal work. Just weeks ago, she released “Grayer Shade Of Blue (Acoustic),” an intimate retelling of a song rooted in the grief of a lost friendship. That followed “Hold Of My Heart (Acoustic),” which kicked off the series and offered a rare glimpse into Joanne’s writing process in its most honest form.

The Deluxe Edition arrives in the midst of Joanne’s busiest touring year yet. After a U.S. spring tour and high-profile festival appearances across North America and Europe – including Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea ALASKA – she’s currently preparing for a fall run across the UK, Netherlands, and Germany, followed by a return to the U.S. for a headline tour in October and November. Her emotionally charged live shows continue to draw rave reviews for their guitar firepower, heartfelt vocals, and raw intensity.
