Ana Popovic unveils “California Chase” music video

Los Angeles–based guitarist and vocalist Ana Popovic has released her new album Dance to the Rhythm, out now on Electric Heel Records/Amplified Distribution. Alongside the album’s release, Popovic has unveiled a brand-new music video for “California Chase,” the third single from the record. She describes the song as a “love letter to LA—with open eyes.”

Produced by Popovic and Buthel, Dance to the Rhythm is a bold fusion of blues, funk, pop, jam band, and gospel influences. Blues Rock Review’s Moe Moe called Dance to the Rhythm “appropriately titled, as it is packed full of danceable tunes and great guitar work.”

Popovic describes the project as rooted in freedom and creativity. “We were jubilant—we were full of dance. And we were free of boundaries. No barrier for our creativity,” she explained.

For Popovic, groove remains central to her artistry. “On stage, one of my biggest attributes is to be able to make people dance,” she said. “Where music takes you to a place where you can let go and be filled with groove. Guitar and blues guitar has never been included in the dance songs much in the past. This is in a way revolutionary. It plays a prominent place and a role in a dance song.”

Throughout Dance to the Rhythm, Popovic continues to blur the lines between genres, masterfully weaving blues guitar into a broader sonic palette. The release of the “California Chase” video underscores that approach, an ode to her adopted home of Los Angeles.
