Larry McCray records new album with Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith

Larry McCray has recorded a new album produced by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith. Bonamassa and Smith produced McCray’s previous album, Blues Without You, which was Blues Rock Review’s top album of 2022. This album was recorded at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, California.

McCray wrote in a social media post, “What a fantastic week putting the new album together. Can’t thank you enough, Joe B, Josh Smith, Reese, Lemar, Calvin, Austin, Zack and Rick for being the coolest guy in the world, and always making sure everyone is okay. PS, my guitar plays like never before. Sad it’s over, but happy to bring some new and exciting music to each and every one of you.”

Joe Bonamassa praised McCray on social media saying, “Congratulations Larry McCray, you just made the best record of your career!”

Josh Smith wrote, “This man is truly the greatest. Incredible work by the whole team!!! Can’t wait for everyone to hear this stuff.”

  • Good to see Larry McCray making new music. After a long absence from touring and recording, his last Blues Without You was a welcome surprise and a reminder just how much better LM makes the genre. Looking forward to the new release.
