Brave Rival unveils “Heavy” lyric video
Brave Rival release their fourth single, “Heavy,” a heartfelt and candid ballad that delves into the experience of anxiety and the sudden changes it can bring. The track masterfully blends beautiful strings with powerful, driving guitars to create a rich wall of sound, allowing the melodic vocals to shine.
“Heavy is one of my favourite songs on the album,” says Chloe. “Lyrically, we took inspiration from the journeys of our fans and the push and pull anxiety can bring on within oneself. That crushing wave-like feeling is familiar to all of us.”
Lindsey adds, “Heavy originally started out acoustically, with a much softer intro. As the idea for the song progressed and the lyrics became clearer, it felt natural to want to start the song with this complete wall of sound. Heavy has the most light and shade on the album. We wanted the song to reflect the way mental health can take over but with moments of clarity. The whole album has a thread of mental health issues, which is something that isn’t spoken about enough. We want to help to change that.”
Billy notes, “Another element to the song is the beautiful string arrangement by the Vulcan String Quartet. The score adds so much movement and beauty against this huge backdrop.”
On August 16th, Brave Rival will release their eagerly awaited sophomore album, Fight or Flight, building on their debut with even greater intensity.
Brave Rival will embark on an extensive tour this Autumn. With influences from the Wilson sisters of Heart to legends like Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac, Brave Rival’s musical lineage is undeniable. This year promises to be monumental for the band.
