Robin Trower cancels tour due to health issues

Guitarist Robin Trower has canceled his fall U.S. tour due to health issues. The 79-year-old Trower announced the decision on his Facebook page through the following statement.

“It is with great regret that I must inform you that I will be unable to fulfil the upcoming tour of the USA in September/October.

I have struggled with health issues for some time now. Following my latest stay in hospital a few weeks ago, my doctor advised me that the only possible way for an effective long-term solution is to undertake a major operation as soon as possible.

I am currently awaiting confirmation of that date. I have also been advised that the recovery time to 100% full fitness could take a while. This makes committing to a fixed touring period in the near future impossible. I have struggled with this decision but realize I cannot continue touring at this time.

I know that you will be as disappointed as I am, but I am very hopeful that this procedure will give me a new lease of life and I can return to doing what I love the most- playing live ASAP. I look forward to catching up with you all as soon as I am able.”

The tour was scheduled to begin on September 14th in Des Moines, Iowa and conclude in Atlanta, Georgia on October 28th.

In 2023, Trower released his latest album, Joyful Sky, with Sari Schorr, which went to #1 on the Billboard Blues chart.

    Dear Sir
I really hope you get this post because being a player from an early age I decided your tone, and style was my pathway.I seen you at Curtis Hixon Hall in Tampa were I was born and raised.I was 10′ from you and i remember this like it was yesterday, you hit a harmonic lick and those Marshalls were screaming and it put me deaf till the next day lol. I was telling all my friends Robin trower death in my ear I was so happy, and dannon and later years I got to meet you I worked at Paragon music in Tampa and the owner son had a band called Squirrels Gone Wild and they opened up for you, the most happy his day in my life.
