Premiere: Todd Sharpville – “Lying To Me” live
In a Blues Rock Review exclusive premiere, watch Todd Sharpville’s live performance of “Lying To Me” from his Live At Rockpalast album.
The opening lyrics of this song say it all: “They always tell you ‘work hard,’ ‘do what the teacher says,’ ‘follow the rules, you’ll never hunger for your bread.. I wanna give you some hope, if you ain’t satisfied! Just give me your vote (I’ll respect you in the morning), don’t ask why!”
Sharpville originally wrote “Lying To Me” with Ian Siegal. The song was also covered by Ben Poole on his Time Has Come album in 2016.
About the song, Sharpville said, “In an age where we’ve become used to consistently being fed lies by our politicians & hierarchies, this song is now more relevant than ever. The freedoms of the little guy are too often trampled by big government & big business, and by the time everyday working class Joe realises what’s going on, it’s often already too late. We need to scrutinise EVERYTHING we’re told these days & use our ability for critical thinking on a daily basis. Don’t allow yourself to be duped by the plethora of nefarious agendas out there that in the longterm, ultimately seek to enslave us.”
