Premiere: Sam Morrow – “Addicted to Love”
In a Blues Rock Review premiere, stream Sam Morrow’s take on “Addicted to Love” produced by Eric Corne.
The track features current Little Feat guitarist, Scott Sharrard, drummer Butch Norton (Lucinda Williams), bassist Ted Russell Kamp (Shooter Jennings), keyboardist Sasha Smith (Sam Beam), trumpeter Mark Pender (Bruce Springsteen) and saxophonist David Ralicke (Beck) and background vocalist Gia Ciambotti (Joe Walsh).
“Everyone in our crew is a big fan of Robert Palmer’s debut album Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley, which was produced by Lowell George of Little Feat with The Meters,” says Sam Morrow. “When we were picking some cover songs to record, I wondered what it would sound like if we covered Palmer’s “Addicted to Love” but did it closer to how that band would have done it. My producer, Eric Corne, had worked with both Richie Hayward and Kenny Gradney of Little Feat and so we thought we’d ask current Little Feat slide guitar guru Scott Sharrard if he wanted to play on it.”
I love this. I actually think it’s even better than the original version.
I just heard this cover version today on Spotify and I’m speechless… I literally can’t stop playing this song, I rarely hear a cover track that’s actually much better than the original.. it’s almost as if this song was meant to be played this way… Anyway Sam Morrow & Company hit a grand slam with this one… Bravo
