In a Blues Rock Review premiere, watch the brand new music video for Duke Robillard’s “Here I’m Is.” The track is from Robillard’s album They Called It Rhythm and Blues, available March 18.
“The song ‘Here I’m Is’ was something I just had to record,” says Robillard. “Originally waxed in the ‘50s by R&B saxophonist Chuck Higgins, it expresses perfectly the fun and loose feel of Jump Blues at its best and sung in our video by DRB member Chris Cote. Our video was shot at the Met in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, which is an offshoot of the original Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel, a ‘70/’80s music venue that was known for hosting about to be famous rock groups as well as touring blues artists.
Robillard adds, “In this video, none other than Rich Lupo himself, R.I.s most famous club owner, makes a rare appearance, posing as the clean-up guy! Longtime DRB band member saxophonist Doug James of the original Roomful of Blues and Jimmie Vaughan group appears along with keyboardist Bruce Bears, bassist Marty Ballou, drummer Mark Teixeira and myself to round out the group.”
