Blues Rock Legends: To Whom the Genre Owes Its Popularity

Something is popular, and something is eternal. And such a phenomenon as rock and blues rock, in particular, is something eternal, which has already passed the test of time. What is it anyway, what is the characteristic of this music genre?

Blues rock is a style of rock music with a characteristic boogie rhythmic pattern and long heavy electric guitar solo improvisations with sonic overdrive. Blues rock emerged in the middle, and finally took shape in the late 1960s, as the development of the traditional African American electric blues, weighted psychedelic, and garage rock performed by “white” rock musicians, first in the UK, then in the USA and throughout the world.

1. Jimi Hendrix 

He is ​​a legendary American virtuoso guitarist, songwriter, and performer, pioneer of blues rock and funk-rock. Music critics have called Hendrix the greatest guitarist in rock history. Hendrix’s revolutionism manifested itself in the discovery of new possibilities for the electric guitar with a highly distorted, heavy sound, which changed rock music. 4. The Yardbirds 

British band, famous for the fact that at different times (from 1964 to 1968) three legendary rock guitarists played in it: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page, who are considered some of the greatest guitarists in rock history. 

5. The Jeff Beck Group

This is a British band formed by Jeff Beck (former Yardbirds guitarist) and existed from 1968 to 1972. Such (later) famous musicians as: Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Cozy Powell and others played with Jeff Beck during these years. The group played heavy blues rock and hit the world charts. Subsequently, Jeff Beck Group will be called (along with Cream) one of the founders of British heavy blues rock, ahead of the legendary Led Zeppelin.
