New Artists You Should Know (2020)

Bluhauz

Miami based guitarist Bluhauz is one of the most exciting artists to emerge in the blues rock world in 2020. Formerly the frontman of Stone Giant, Bluhauz (pronounced “Blue House”) has released three singles this year in preparation for his debut album. A talented guitarist with a knack for strong hooks. Recommended for fans of artists like Rival Sons, Philip Sayce, Gary Clark Jr., and The Black Keys.

Magnolia Boulevard

Kentucky based quintet Magnolia Boulevard is one of the best new bands of 2020. Magnolia Boulevard released its debut EP, New Illusion this year, which was produced by Paul Reed Smith. The band is fronted by vocal powerhouse Maggie Noelle and with Gregg Erwin’s slide guitar you can hear why the band is already drawing comparisons to the Tedeschi Trucks Band.

The Georgia Thunderbolts

Retro rock and rollers The Georgia Thunderbolts released their debut self-titled 5 track EP this year via the Mascot Label Group. The band fuses roots, blues, rock, and a bit of country. The Georgia Thunderbolts fit right in with other retro southern rock groups like The Sheepdogs, The Temperance Movement, Robert Jon and the Wreck, and Blackberry Smoke. The group could become a staple of the modern blues rock scene.

Oscar Ladell

At just 21 years of age, Oscar Ladell released his debut album Gone Away. Ladell is a second-generation musician that mixes blues, rock, soul, and funk to deliver a retro sound. Ladell cites artists like B.B. King, Robert Cray, and Gary Clark Jr. as influences. Recommended for fans of Gary Clark Jr. and Vintage Trouble.

Terah Lynn

Blues rock singer/songwriter Terah Lynn is currently working on her debut EP, Wild Calling. She’s released two singles so far, the title track “Wild Calling” and “Not So Nice.” Terah Lynn is off to a good start and has a sound in a similar realm as Larkin Poe.
