New Artists You Should Know (2020)
2020 is shaping up to be a year with some great emerging artists. At Blues Rock Review we’ve always prided ourselves on bringing our readers the best new and emerging acts. If you’re looking to discover some great music you may not have heard, don’t miss these new artists you should know.
Bluhauz
Miami based guitarist Bluhauz is one of the most exciting artists to emerge in the blues rock world in 2020. Formerly the frontman of Stone Giant, Bluhauz (pronounced “Blue House”) has released three singles this year in preparation for his debut album. A talented guitarist with a knack for strong hooks. Recommended for fans of artists like Rival Sons, Philip Sayce, Gary Clark Jr., and The Black Keys.
Magnolia Boulevard
Kentucky based quintet Magnolia Boulevard is one of the best new bands of 2020. Magnolia Boulevard released its debut EP, New Illusion this year, which was produced by Paul Reed Smith. The band is fronted by vocal powerhouse Maggie Noelle and with Gregg Erwin’s slide guitar you can hear why the band is already drawing comparisons to the Tedeschi Trucks Band.
The Georgia Thunderbolts
Retro rock and rollers The Georgia Thunderbolts released their debut self-titled 5 track EP this year via the Mascot Label Group. The band fuses roots, blues, rock, and a bit of country. The Georgia Thunderbolts fit right in with other retro southern rock groups like The Sheepdogs, The Temperance Movement, Robert Jon and the Wreck, and Blackberry Smoke. The group could become a staple of the modern blues rock scene.
Oscar Ladell
At just 21 years of age, Oscar Ladell released his debut album Gone Away. Ladell is a second-generation musician that mixes blues, rock, soul, and funk to deliver a retro sound. Ladell cites artists like B.B. King, Robert Cray, and Gary Clark Jr. as influences. Recommended for fans of Gary Clark Jr. and Vintage Trouble.
Terah Lynn
Blues rock singer/songwriter Terah Lynn is currently working on her debut EP, Wild Calling. She’s released two singles so far, the title track “Wild Calling” and “Not So Nice.” Terah Lynn is off to a good start and has a sound in a similar realm as Larkin Poe.
Thanks for this, I hadn’t heard of any of them but I am now following all these bands on my Spotify.
You should check out Soul Miners Union. They are a new band who just released their debut album “Back To Life” that was recorded and produced by Josh Smith. Really great original songs and music https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyPgD47sjoX-ujRVy-ZrAQw
