The Presence LDN: Ya Ya Pop EP Review

The London bred collective The Presence LDN make a bristling debut with EP Ya Ya Pop. They may be recently formed, but the members are definitely packing a rich and enticing musical history. Steve ‘Snips’ Parsons fronts the band and having been involved with acts like Sharks and King Mob, he has already got heads turning at this new project.

The title track “Ya Ya Pop” has a sound of decades gone by. It is reminiscent of the British rock and soul from the ’70s and all the blurry hype that went with it. Snips provides a rather subversive vocal compared to the mainstream music scene backed up by a railroad beat and a guitar that shows its punk rock roots.

The track “Swirl” seems to take on more of blues ridden feel, playing with a bit of call and response. The Presence LDN fit into that alternate genre and the EP gives us an insight to the makings of a new band, but not necessarily a new sound.
