ZZ Ward: Til The Casket Drops Review

Til The Casket Drops is the upcoming album from ZZ Ward to be released on October 16. With the soul and influence of old blues legends such as Muddy Waters and Big Mama Thornton, and the contemporary sound of Adele with a hip hop twist, this album flawlessly mixes the old with the new.

The second song on the album, “Put The Gun Down,” is definitely a hit. She sings a memorable hook with a bluesy and soulful voice that will make any listener want to sing along.

Other songs such as “Lil Darlin” (featuring the O’Mys) are worth listening to simply to hear the passion in ZZ Ward’s voice. This song is incredibly soulful. The chorus is reminiscent of an old spiritual while the verses have a contemporary R&B flow in the melody.

“Cryin Wolf” (featuring Kendrick Lamar) and “Last Love Song” are two other stand out songs on the album. “Cryin Wolf” is yet another soulful delivery from ZZ Ward featuring a rap verse from Kendrick Lamar. “Last Love Song” is a contrast to the other songs on the album. It starts beautifully using primarily guitar and piano with violin and drums chiming in as it carries on. It shows a softer side of ZZ Ward and has more of a pop quality to the sound.

Til The Casket Drops is sure to be a success!
