Cassie Taylor: Blue Review

Blue

Blue is the latest album from Colorado based singer/songwriter Cassie Taylor. While blues and rock are definitely an influence in the music, Cassie’s sweet pop vocals give the blues rock genre a different twist.

Like many of the songs on the album, “Memphis” sounds like a pop crossover tune. It is upbeat, catchy, and cheerful topped with Cassie’s signature vocal sound. The bluesy music in “Spoken For” comes in and one would expect to hear a typical gritty blues vocal to be sung over it but Cassie stays true to her sweet tone and adds her own sass by maintaining a sultry vibe. Other stand out songs include “Bought Borrowed Stolen,” and “Waste of Time.”

Cassie’s songwriting is without a doubt outstanding but some of the more rocking songs could use a little more “oomph” in the vocals rather than sounding so sweet all the time.

If you’re looking to hear something new and unexpected in the blues/rock/pop genre, Blue is that album!
