Kings Go Forth: The Outsiders Are Back Review
Kings Go Forth are a 10-piece jam band based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They bring together a blend of funk, soul, and R&B and are one of the leaders in the soul revival. The band is very diverse as its members come from different generations with some in their 20’s while lead singer Black Wolf is in his 50’s.
From the moment the album begins you are transported back to the 1970’s. My only complaint is the production sounds like it is from the 70’s too. There is a solution to that though and it’s turning up the volume because this album will blow you away! The songs are very catchy and will be stuck in your head for days. The Outsiders Are Back is a truly energetic performance and makes for some great party tunes.
The vocals from lead singer Black Wolf are outstanding. And the playing is fantastic as Kings Go Forth bring everything to the table with trumpet, trombone, congas, keyboards, and of course guitar, bass, and drums fusing a mix of listening euphoria. If you’re looking for an up and coming band look no further than Kings Go Forth because The Outsiders Are Back proves soul is back and in a big way.
