Samantha Fish covers MC5 in preview of upcoming live album
Samantha Fish has released a powerful new live performance video for her cover of MC5’s classic anthem “Kick Out the Jams,” recorded at the historic Bijou Theatre. The performance showcases Fish’s fiery guitar work and commanding stage presence, breathing new life into one of rock’s most iconic protest songs.
Originally made famous by Detroit proto-punk pioneers MC5, “Kick Out the Jams” has long been a symbol of raw energy and rebellion. Fish’s rendition stays true to that spirit while adding her own blues rock edge, blending gritty tone and explosive dynamics. The result is a performance that feels both reverent and refreshingly modern.
The video comes from Fish’s upcoming live album, which is currently slated for release in 2026.
Fish has been riding a wave of momentum following a major year in her career. Her 2025 studio release, Paper Doll, earned her a Grammy nomination for “Best Contemporary Blues Album” and was voted Blues Rock Review’s #1 Album of 2025. Fish has announced a run of UK tour dates for early 2026, with special guests the Zac Schulze Gang joining her on the road.
The acclaimed blues rock guitarist and singer will bring her high-energy live show across England and Scotland in late February and early March, hitting major cities including London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Birmingham.
