Warren Haynes to play Red Rocks with Colorado Symphony
GRAMMY® Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, guitar legend, producer, and Gov’t Mulefront man Warren Haynes has added a special show date at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre to his upcoming Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band & The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience. The new show takes place on Tuesday, September 10th and will feature Haynes (vocals, guitar) and his new all-star lineup for the Warren Haynes Band – longtime friend John Medeski (keys), Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott (bass), veteran WHB member Terence Higgins (drums) and the venerable Greg Osby (sax) –performing with the Colorado Symphony, led by conductor Christopher Dragon. Artist and venue pre-sale tickets for Red Rocks will be available Thursday, May 16th from 10am-10pm MT with the public onsale commencing Friday, May 17th at 10am MT.
“It’s almost cliche to say Red Rocks is a magical venue, but the truth is…it is,” shares Haynes. “Having played there dozens of times, I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad show there. So, when picking places to bring my retrospective Symphonic Experience show, the one place I knew we had to play was Red Rocks. This show features material from all the amazing bands I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of over the last 30 years – interpreted by different orchestras around the country in addition to music from my various solo records and new, yet to be released material as well. I’m honored to perform once again with the Colorado Symphony and to unleash my new band, which will perform with and without the symphony.”
The Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band & The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience features a full set of symphonic music plus a set of Haynes’ signature rock/soul blend alongside the debut of the new Warren Haynes Band. The brand-new show will explore all aspects of Warren’s incredible catalog and career including music from Gov’t Mule, Allman Brothers Band, The Dead, Jerry Garcia, his solo albums (including the Grammy-nominated Man In Motion), and more set to never-before heard arrangements for all songs, except the Garcia tunes which will find Haynes revisiting compositions from the groundbreaking Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration tour. All shows, apart from Red Rocks, will be conducted by Rich Daniels of Chicago’s City Lights Orchestra.
The Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band & The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience debuts next month with three special nights in the northeast June 7 – 9 and then continues in July with shows throughout the Midwest. In between, the Warren Haynes Band will head to Europe for an 8-date tour in June and support Slash at the West Coast dates of the S.E.R.P.E.N.T Festival from July 5 – 14 including July 13th at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
The Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band & The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience follows the hugely popular Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration, which featured 30 total shows throughout 2013-2016. The beloved production provided Warren the opportunity to interpret and celebrate the music of Jerry Garcia and ultimately served as inspiration to create his own symphonic event. In March 2019, Haynes first premiered his show “Dreams & Songs – A Symphonic Journey” to rave reviews with two sold-out shows with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra in Warren’s hometown of Asheville, NC. Alongside a full orchestra and an A-list band of core musicians, the one-of-a-kind evenings featured symphonic adaptations of his career-spanning material in a unique and distinctive way, allowing Haynes to stay true to his rock and improvisational roots while also embracing the power and beauty of the symphony. The all-new Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band & The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience will expand upon the original “Dreams & Songs” shows with a remarkable multi-dimensional experience, showcasing the unmatched career of one of the most impressive guitarists and vocalists of the modern era.
