Artists To Watch In 2019

2019 is shaping up to be incredible year in music and blues rock. It’s also been a strong year for up and coming talent. Here are Blues Rock Review’s artists to watch in 2019.

Christone “Kingfish” Ingram

Perhaps no one in the blues and blues rock world has generated more buzz in 2019 than 20-year-old phenom Christone “Kingfish” Ingram. Ingram released his debut album to rave reviews in May and has taken the blues world by storm. “Kingfish” delivers on the hype. We caught him first hand at the Dallas International Guitar Festival, which featured some of the world’s best guitars players and “Kingfish” more than held his own.

Ariel Posen

Ariel Posen is perhaps best known for his time with the Canadian Juno award winning roots rock group The Brothers Landreth. Posen released his impressive solo debut How Long earlier this year. Posen is a monster guitar player and has the songwriting and vocal chops to back it up. His guitar videos on Instagram have built quite a following, too.

Michael Lee

Hailing from Forth Worth, Texas, Michael Lee grabbed national attention after his performance of “The Thrill Is Gone” went viral on YouTube with over 6 million views. Lee signed with Ruf Records and released his self-titled album this year. His soulful voice and style will draw comparisons to Jonny Lang.

Caleb Johnson

Caleb Johnson won the 13th season of American Idol, but don’t let that fool you. His 2019 album and sophomore release Born From Southern Ground is not a flavor of the week album. Johnson released this album independently, which granted him the freedom to make the record he wanted to and the result is one of the better rock albums of the year.

Pete Francis

Pete Francis is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Blues Rock Review. Pete founded Blues Rock Review in 2010 because he felt there was a major void in how the blues rock genre was covered. Pete is the host of Blues Rock Weekly and a co-host on the Blues Rock Show.
