Premiere: Bobby Thompson – “On The Ground”

In a Blues Rock Review premiere, stream “On The Ground,” the brand new track from Bobby Thompson. The track covers new territory for Thompson as he dives into a realm of sonic sounds.

“I want to carry on the tradition, of blues and folk music, without mimicking, but with solid interpretation and writing,” says Thompson. “People like Taj Mahal, John Hammond Jr., and Mississippi John Hurt are top-shelf in my vinyl catalog. Lightnin’ Hopkins and Townes Van Zandt were friends. Bob Dylan sang blues songs. Blues music and folk music are close relatives. That’s the tradition I want to continue in with my songwriting and performances. Pushing the boundaries has always been the tradition of blues and blues-rock. This new single does just that.”

Thompson is currently working in the studio on a self-produced album intended for release in the summer of 2019, featuring reworked versions of “On The Ground,” “My Everything,” and more, followed by touring, including club dates and festivals.
