Dana Fuchs: Bliss Avenue Review

Looking for an album with an undeniable amount of depth and soul? Look no further than Dana Fuchs’ latest release Bliss Avenue. The songs on the album were co-written by Dana and her guitarist, Jon Diamond. Also on the album are Shawn Pelton on drums, Jack Daley on bass, Glenn Patscha on keys, and Nicki Richards and Tabitha Fair on backing vocals.

Dana pours her soul into every word she sings and each story she tells. Hearing this album is truly a window into Dana’s heart and makes the listener feel as though they are on a journey with her.

The title track “Bliss Avenue” is a slow blues and her Janis Joplin-esque voice is striking. There is a strong variety of genres on this album, from the ’70s rock inspired “How Did Things Get This Way,” the Etta James type of soul ballad “So Hard to Move,” to “Nothin’ on My Mind” and “Long Long Game,” which has an unexpected country flare.

Dana has one of the best and most gripping voices in her genre today and Bliss Avenue is a reflection of her passion for singing and storytelling.

  • Hmm it looks like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your
blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to the whole thing.
Do you have any helpful hints for beginner blog writers?
    I’d genuinely appreciate it.
