Eliza Neals: Messin With A Fool Review

Messin With A Fool is an album from blues singer Eliza Neals. With the help of Barrett Strong and Martin ‘Tino’ Gross, Neals was able to make this album a great reflection of her influences.

Neals’ soulful voice rings out on the first track, “Misery.” It is the best song on the album and demonstrates her Motown and blues influences. “Man’s Man” is more of a rocking tune with a repetitive lyric and melody that will make the listener want to sing along. This sassy songstress tells it like it is in “Livin With Yo Mama” with the lyric “livin’ with yo mama and that ain’t cool.” Taking a break from the original music on the album Neals covers and puts her own spin on “Money (That’s What I Want),” which was originally written and performed by Barrett Strong.

Messin With A Fool is a solid album and a great start for Eliza Neals.
