Danny Bryant’s Red Eye Band: Just As I Am Review
Just As I Am is the sixth studio album from British blues rocker Danny Bryant. While the British blues scene seems to be flourishing at the moment with plenty of great young acts, Danny Bryant is right at the top leading the charge.
Just As I Am begins with the radio friendly rocker “Shut Out The Light,” and then “Blues for Buddy,” a Buddy Guy tribute. The album really has a classic rock feel with some great blues tunes mixed in. The highlight of the album has to be the title track, “Just As I am,” which may be the best track Bryant has ever done.
The album consists of all originals except for “Master of Disaster,” which is a John Hyatt cover. Bryant does the song justice and then some as it’s one of the top tracks on the record. Just As I Am closes out with the 8 minute epic “Alone In The Dark,” which features some fantastic soloing.
All and all Just As I Am is a fantastic record and one of the best new albums this year. At only 29-years-old Bryant has loads of potential. If his next album is anything like this one we are in store for something great.
The Review: 9.5/10
