Eric Steckel: Feels Like Home Review

Feels Like Home, which released in 2008 is the fourth album from 20-year old blues rocker Eric Steckel, and features Duane Trucks on the drums. This album launches Steckel into the premier crop of young blues artists today such as Ryan McGarvey and Davy Knowles.

Feels Like Home begins with the rocking “Just Walk Away.” On first listen you know you’re in for a great album after hearing this scorching opener. Steckel keeps it going with the title track “Feels Like Home,” and then the instrumental “Sourthern Skyline.” The album has a good mix of instrumentals including the closing acoustic piece “Tuscany,” which is just a beautiful way to close things out.

It sounds cliche, but there isn’t a bad track on Feels Like Home. Steckel’s first album was recorded when he was just 11-years old, and it shows as he plays like a seasoned pro. Feels Like Home would make a great addition to anyone’s library and Eric Steckel is definitely one to watch for on the blues rock scene for years to come.
