Play Crossroads Competition
Crossroads launched their play crossroads competition. There are some bands signed up that many of you have probably heard of.

Ryan McGarvey won the competition last time around.

Check it out, definitely some new artists to be discovered.

RE: Play Crossroads Competition
This looks really interesting this year. I don't remember this much competition entering last time when McGarvey won.

Based on the entrants so far, my money is on Philip Sayce or Joanne Shaw Taylor to get selected. I hope it goes to Sayce. It's crazy he's not a regular at Crossroads already.

RE: Play Crossroads Competition
I'm headed to both nights of the festival. So I'm particularly interested in the outcome of this contest. I quickly browsed though 131 pages of entrants and pulled the addresses for the ones that caught my eye or have been featured on Blues Rock Review. I am sure that I missed some!

I wish they could pick the top 10 and have a complete side stage. I might spend more time there than at the main stage.

Keep your eyes open for a posting soon about the contest with some commentary by Ryan McGarvey the 2010 contest winner.

Besides attending concerts and listening to music obviously, I'm into my motorcycles, cooking, home brewing just to name a few hobbies.

Anyone care to make a prediction as to who wins the competition?

RE: Play Crossroads Competition
Just a guess here but I'm going to guess it will be a relative unknown. When Tyler Bryant (2007) and Ryan McGarvey (2010) were chosen they weren't exaclty well known. They had both released only one album at the time.

Although.... the previous contests weren't as publicized as this one and didn't draw artists like Philip, Henrik, who have multiple releases.

Ana Popovic just joined the contest and has had a quick rise towards the top. With her entrance, I think it'll go down to her, Sayce, and JST. But who knows, it could go to a dark horse.

I really have gotten into Henrik Freischlader, his latest album is really good (House in the Woods).

Henrik is by far my top choice. I'd love a chance to see him.
