Seth Rosenbloom: Keep On Turning Review
Keep On Turning is the debut album from Boston based blues rock guitarist Seth Rosenbloom. The album was produced by Josh Smith at Smith’s studio in Reseda, California. Keep On Turning features six originals and three covers. Some of the originals are co-writes with Sonya Rae Taylor.
The album opens with the title track, a slow blues, where Rosenbloom’s playing has a bit of Joe Bonamassa feel to it. Rosenbloom was turned on to the blues after seeing Bonamassa perform in concert when he was 13, so you can hear a bit of that influence throughout the album. “Crawling Back” follows, a song about an old flame, and this is definitely the blues rocker of the album. Keep On Turning probably leans more blues than blues rock, but Rosenbloom certainly displays the chops to play effectively.
The covers on the album begin with B.B. King’s “Heartbreaker,” where the horn section takes center stage. Rosenbloom also covers Elmore James’ “Look Over Yonders Wall” and Freddie King’s “Palace of the King.”
Keep On Turning is a solid debut from Seth Rosenbloom. There seems to be an uptick of young blues rock guitarists and Rosenbloom is definitely in the mix. It’ll be interesting to watch his career develop.
